# Make a video

> From brief to rendered video, with the iteration loop that keeps it cheap.

# Make a video

This tutorial assumes you have an agent and a brand. If not: fifteen minutes
in [Create an agent](/learn/tutorials/create-an-agent) and
[Set up your brand](/learn/tutorials/set-up-your-brand), then come back.

## 1. Brief for video

A video brief answers three things in any order:

> **What** — launch teaser for the new adapter line.
> **Who** — bikepackers who care about weight.
> **Feel** — fast cuts, minimal copy, ends on the logo.

Length is a flow default, not something you must specify — but overriding it
in the brief ("20 seconds max") is always allowed.

## 2. Work the preview, not the render

The agent returns a live composition — scrub it like a video. This is where
all editing happens, and it's the cheapest place any edit will ever be:

* **Copy** — "headline in the third shot is doing nothing, cut it"
* **Structure** — "open on the product, not the logo"
* **Pacing** — "the intro drags, get to it faster"
* **Per-shot style** — "make shot 4 a close-up instead"

One correction per reply keeps the loop honest — stacked corrections make it
unclear which change fixed what.

## 3. Know when to stop previewing

The preview is faithful: what you scrub is what renders. When you're
wordsmithing the same line for the third time, render — seeing the real thing
resets your eye better than another preview round.

## 4. Render

Ask for the render and let it run. A few minutes, server-side; keep chatting
or start the next brief while it works. When it lands:

* **Watch it once, end to end**, at full size. Not scrubbing — playing.
* **Small fixes** (a typo, a timing nudge): most can be fixed and re-rendered
from the same composition — you're not starting over.
* **Wrong idea**: cheaper to regenerate fresh than to stack corrections on a
  piece that was never right.

## 5. Format variants

Need it somewhere else? Ask for the same piece in another ratio ("give me a
9:16 of this for stories") rather than re-briefing from scratch — the agent
re-composes for the new frame instead of cropping your video.

## Cost shape, for your planning

Previews: cheap. Renders: the real spend. One piece, three preview rounds,
one render — that's the economical shape of a good video.
